PUMA centre nears completion
Sporting goods giant PUMA’s new central European warehousing hub is scheduled to begin operations in the second quarter of 2021. Located in Geiselwind, Germany, the facility covers a total area of 90,000 square metres (969,000 square feet) and provides storage space of close to 70,000 square metres (753,000 square feet). It will feature 20 kilometres (12 miles) of conveyors utilising 550 shuttles, and is projected to ship more than 75 million units per year.
As expected from a modern project, the warehouse is reportedly being made to a highly sustainable standard, featuring solar panels and a rainwater utilisation system. It will even support honey bees on a 14,000 square metre (151,000 square foot) green roof.
