Acquisition enhances A&E offering
The company's products are manufactured in 22 countries and sold to over 100 national markets.
Stitching thread producer American & Efird (A&E) has acquired US-based high-performance yarn manufacturer Charles Craft, which was founded in 1967 by experienced textile company employee Charles Buie. This action is said to broaden A&E’s product offering related to thermal protection, cut-resistant and flame-retardant yarns and expands the company’s US platform and manufacturing capabilities.
According to A&E, Charles Craft is known and respected for its high-end industrial yarns and quality service provided to the safety apparel market. This expansion is expected to lead to an expanded product offering, in addition to enhanced technical expertise. The new acquisition’s vice-president for sales, Frank Buie – son of the company’s founder – is reported to have joined A&E as part of its sales management team.
