Caleres appoints president of Famous Footwear
Prior to his new appointment, Michael Edwards was senior vice president of digital commerce, planning, allocation and stores for Famous Footwear.
US-based Caleres has named Michael Edwards as the new president of its Famous Footwear brand. Having joined Caleres in 2008, he has held a number of roles within Famous Footwear’s management structure, including director of merchandising, systems and operations, chief customer officer, senior vice president of merchandise planning and analytics, vice president of sales and store operations and, most recently, senior vice president of digital commerce, planning, allocation and stores. In earlier phases of his career, he served in a variety of financial, merchandising and operational roles at the May Company and as an account executive at Laclede Steel Company.
Mr Edwards is reported to have played a critical role in navigating the recent economic shutdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, after which he oversaw the reopening and operating of the company’s stores. He also led the brand’s digital growth initiatives, implemented kerbside collections at more than 600 Famous Footwear stores and coordinated increased store fulfilment activities.
