VF commits to UN initiatives
US-based VF Corporation has endorsed two United Nations’ projects. The company – which includes Timberland and Vans among its brands – is to work with the UN ‘Global Compact’ initiative designed to encourage the adoption of sustainable and socially responsible policies, in addition to reporting on their implementation. The corporation will also adhere to the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women’s ‘Women’s Empowerment Principles’ on gender equality and women’s empowerment in both the workplace and the wider community.
“The social and environmental issues exposed by the COVID-19 pandemic have been extraordinary, and we believe now more than ever that business has a crucial role to play in respecting human rights and protecting the environment,” commented Julie Sutton, VF Corporation’s senior director of government affairs and global impact.
