Huntsman PUs selected for foot recovery sandal
Global chemical producer Huntsman Corporation has assisted ‘functional footwear’ specialist Joe Nimble to developed its first ‘recovery sandal’ for runners who have taken up pounding the pavements during the pandemic. The ‘recoverToes’ sandals were developed virtually during the last half of 2020 and went on sale in mid-April of this year.
The concept behind recoverToes is to provide relief from fatigue following a run by optimising the alignment of the big toes. This is achieved through the incorporation of a special footbed that is said to space out the toes in order to significantly improve foot shape and structure, ease plantar pressure and improve circulation by stimulating foot nerve endings.
This new footwear is manufactured using Huntsman’s ‘DALTOPED’ polyurethane (PU) footwear system technology. The soft inner part of the sandal is made from DALTOPED ‘Aqua PUR’, a low-density polyurethane, and the outer surface is produced from a DALTOPED ‘Grip’ grade of PU.
Huntsman Corporation is a publicly-traded global manufacturer and marketer of speciality chemicals. It operates over 70 manufacturing, research and development and operations facilities in some 30 countries and employs around 9,000 members of staff within four distinct business divisions.
