SATRA is pleased to announce the launch of a new technical compliance scheme which has been designed with input from major brand owners and retailers, and aims to standardise footwear production practices throughout the supply chain.

The programme is founded on our 100-plus years of footwear expertise and industry best practice. The evaluation is split into ten sections, covering the key technical aspects of manufacturing processes and which include raw materials handling, cutting, closing, bottom stock preparation, assembly, packaging and warehousing. The assessment also evaluates the factory environment, such as health and safety, and housekeeping throughout the factory.

SATRA’s points-based system enables the easy benchmarking of suppliers, and the Gold, Silver and Bronze award system is designed to drive continuous improvement.

Stand out from the crowd

The SATRA Technical Compliance Scheme will enable a manufacturer to demonstrate that quality, management and the production environment are taken seriously. This is important for companies aspiring to supply brand owners and retailers, as a Technical Compliance Scheme award will make them stand out from other manufacturers.

Producers are helped to recognise the processes which affect quality. As a result, they can ensure stable production methods and a safe working environment.

The scheme can also provide an important service to sourcing companies, brand owners and retailers, enabling them to evaluate and grade producers in order to manage the quality of the products being purchased.

How can we help?
