Joint platform launched for East African leathermakers
The aim of the new strategy is to improve international market access for East African leather and goods.
A group of tanners, product manufacturers, hide and skin traders and leather chemical suppliers in East Africa have joined forces to create a new online platform called ‘Linea’ – the Leather Industry Network East Africa – as a ‘collective voice’ to act on behalf of the region's leather sector.
The declared purpose behind Linea is to encourage leather sector companies located in Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda to share industry information and offer assistance to each other in order to improve market access and boost their trade within these six countries and further afield.
