PrimeAsia China celebrates gold-rated score
A founding member of the Leather Working Group (LWG), PrimeAsia has announced the renewal of the certification for its operating unit in China with a gold-rated result and a 100 per cent score for traceability. According to PrimeAsia, its China tannery – located in Dongguan and certified since 2006 – has always used the LWG initiative as an integrated part of its environmental management plan, while extracting opportunities from the protocol to further develop efficiencies, benchmark good practices and report its performance to the market in a transparent way.
“We have just concluded the installation of a new automated dosing system in our retanning area and added new health and safety equipment across our unit, resulting in further enhancements in water, energy and chemical management while ensuring the wellbeing of our team”, commented PrimeAsia’s chief executive, Jon Clark.
This is the second gold-rated award the company has received this year, after its operation in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Vietnam obtained the same recognition in the first quarter. PrimeAsia’s two operating units in Asia are said to have a combined capacity of more than 11 million square feet of leather per month.
