Managing complaints about seam failures
Seam failures are one of the major causes of customer returns. Here we discuss some of the most common types.
Seams will generally fail either because the material has torn – usually at the stitch holes, the yarns of textiles having separated – or because the thread has failed (either broken through excessive strain or having abraded through). Poor design is often the cause if seams are placed in vulnerable parts of the upper where the seam will be significantly flexed.
