SATRA supports ‘Queen’s Green Canopy’ initiative
Selena Rose and John Hooker planted SATRA’s tree at Century House
SATRA has planted a rowan tree outside its Century House site in Kettering as part of the ‘Queen’s Green Canopy’ project (QGC), which has been created to mark Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s 2022 Platinum Jubilee while at the same time benefiting future generations. The tree was put in place by SATRA chief executive John Hooker and receptionist Selena Rose, who had suggested the company’s backing of this programme.
QGC is described as a unique tree-planting initiative which invites people from across the United Kingdom to ‘plant a tree for the Jubilee’. Everyone from individuals and groups to villages, cities, counties, schools and corporations are being encouraged to play their part in enhancing the UK’s environment by planting trees during the official planting season from October to March. Tree planting will commence again in October 2022, through to the end of the Jubilee year.
As well as inviting the planting of new trees, The QGC initiative will dedicate a network of seventy ancient woodlands across the United Kingdom and identify the same number of ancient trees to mark Her Majesty’s seventy years of service to the nation.
