Testing the durability of insole materials

Reporting on two aspects of insole durability which can affect a material’s fitness for purpose: resistance to flex failure and abrasion resistance.

Nearly all footwear is flexible, allowing the foot to flex at the toe joints during normal walking. For this reason, resistance to damage from flexing is one of the key properties of an insole material for use in the forepart region.
