Two new SATRA webinars announced

Details have been released about the latest additions to SATRA’s live online presentations on footwear-related topics.

The ongoing programme of live webinars presented by SATRA experts on a variety of key topics is proving very popular with members around the world. Hundreds of online attendees have taken advantage of this provision, all of whom have the opportunity to pose questions during the presentations and either hear a live response at the conclusion of the session or receive personalised emailed advice – a particularly valuable service whenever confidential information about the member’s products is being discussed.

The following webinars are presented at 10:00 BST and repeated at 16:00 BST for members who are located in North and South America.

Thursday 7th April 2022 – ‘A comprehensive guide to SATRA’s restricted substances list’. SATRA’s restricted substances lists (RSLs) are essential documents which help to identify and explain how sometimes complex legislation is applicable to different materials used in footwear and consumer products. This webinar will introduce the latest versions of SATRA’s RSLs, and explain some of the key substances, why they might be present, the materials to which they are relevant and the key changes from previous editions of these documents.

Thursday 14th April 2022 – ‘Footwear construction for improved thermal properties’. This webinar will address many of the questions we receive about improving the thermal properties of footwear while focusing on construction and the choice of materials. Often good footwear is let down by simple misjudgements, such as how to correctly incorporate insulation, what types of insulation to use, the difference between ‘substance’ and ‘loft’, the importance of fit and the pre-shaping of uppers during production.

In addition to the regular live events, SATRA has built an online library of recordings of the webinars as well as supplementary video presentations on a number of key footwear-related issues, access to which is reserved for member companies. This online provision ensures that all members who were unable to watch the live online events can still benefit from the experience of SATRA’s experts and other industry figures by logging onto the dedicated website section whenever they choose.
