Canada Goose accelerates Japanese growth
Canadian clothing supplier Canada Goose has entered into a new joint venture with long-time partner Sazaby League Ltd to form ‘Canada Goose Japan’, with each partner owning 50 per cent of the venture. The strategy is intended to accelerate ‘direct to consumer’ marketing, which includes the use of retail stores.
Canada Goose Japan is expected to generate CAD 60 to 65 million (USD 47.8 to 51.7 million/GBP 36.5 to 39.5 million) during the 2022/2023 fiscal year, close to double the figure from this market achieved in 2021/2022.
The company’s distribution system in Japan currently includes a permanent Canada Goose retail store in Tokyo, as well as a national e-commerce site and wholesale distribution points around the country. The new operation is anticipated to significantly increase revenue and gross profit per unit in comparison with the existing business model.
