The Clarks footwear company has announced the appointment of Jonathan (‘Jon’) Ram as its new chief executive.
Mr Ram was born and raised in Montreal, Canada, and has extensive footwear and apparel leadership experience. His most recent position was as group president of global activewear at US multinational clothing company Hanesbrands, where he led the growth of the global activewear business across multiple brands and businesses. Prior to that, Mr Ram spent 16 years at US-headquartered New Balance, during which time he oversaw the company’s involvement in the LATAM, EMEA and North American markets.
“I am pleased to welcome Jon to Clarks as our new CEO,” said company chairman, Colin Li. “He brings significant global experience and understanding of the footwear and apparel market. In the last year, Clarks has implemented a focused turnaround strategy designed to protect the future of the business and to build a foundation for sustainable growth in the years ahead. This has resulted in an improved financial position. With the appointment of Jon as CEO, we now look forward to a new phase where we will focus on growing our business in current and new markets and channels, and Jon will take a leading role in taking Clarks to the next level.”
Founded in 1825 by brothers Cyrus and James Clark in the English village of Street, Clarks is a global business operating retail, wholesale, franchise and online channels in over 100 markets.
