SATRA webinars cover key issues

SATRA’s popular live online presentations explain valuable information on a variety of footwear-related topics.

The ongoing programme of live webinars presented by SATRA experts on a variety of key topics is proving very popular with members around the world. Hundreds of online attendees have taken advantage of this provision, all of whom have the opportunity to pose questions during the presentations and either hear a live response at the conclusion of the session or receive personalised emailed advice – a particularly valuable service whenever confidential information about the member’s products is being discussed.

Each of the following webinars is presented at 10:00 BST and repeated at 16:00 BST for members in North and South America.

• 9th June – ‘Member benefits of SATRA’s 3D capabilities’ will highlight our 3D printers, 3D scanner and Computer Aided Design capabilities, and explain how these technologies can be used to benefit our members.
• 23rd June – ‘Using the Pedatron to assess the durability of footwear and its components’ will explore how this versatile machine can be used to evaluate footwear and associated components under non-standard conditions and loads.
• 7th July – ‘Testing for the future – electronics in footwear’ will consider how to check that new designs are suitable and that electronics placed in footwear do not compromise comfort and other desirable footwear properties.
• 14th July – ‘Digitising the last assessment’ will explain how last assessment has been translated into the digital medium, how particular dimensions are defined and how we extract them from the 3D CAD file of the last.
• 28th July – ‘Cost control in the supply chain’ will examine each individual aspect of cost – including design, manufacture, distribution, transportation and retail – and review steps which can control or minimise such costs.
• 1st September – ‘Innovative materials as an alternative to leather?’ will investigate if plant-based materials could equal leather in most relevant functional performance parameters.

In addition to the regular live events, SATRA has built an online library of recordings of the webinars as well as supplementary video presentations on a number of key footwear-related issues, access to which is reserved for member companies. This online provision ensures that all members who were unable to watch the live online events can still benefit from the experience of SATRA’s experts and other industry figures by logging onto the dedicated website section whenever they choose.
