Long-serving SATRA manager retires
Lynne Fenyk has served in her current role for the past 13 years.
SATRA divisional manager Lynne Fenyk has retired after a long and successful career in the footwear industry. On leaving school in 1978, Lynne joined SATRA as a laboratory technician, and attended day release and evening classes to study physical sciences, followed by three years at college developing her knowledge of footwear.
In 1985, Lynne moved to the British Shoe Corporation in Northampton as a work study engineer and two years later joined R Griggs & Co Ltd (Dr Martens), where she held various roles as the business grew. Her main areas of responsibility and expertise were as technical closing manager, material quality manager and laboratory manager.
She re-joined SATRA in 2003 as business development specialist – footwear, and soon became deputy business area manager for footwear. Promotion to business area manager came in 2004, which saw her take responsibility for footwear testing and management services (now known as ‘production efficiency’).
Five years later, Lynne was promoted to divisional manager – footwear, with oversight of footwear testing and fitting, chemical analytical testing, quality services, management services, and later, research (innovation and development).
SATRA has appointed Simon Courtney, who has over 20 years’ experience in testing footwear of all types as well as PPE-related products, as the new divisional manager for footwear.
