AMANN launches thread for extreme weather conditions

Outdoor-Pro is marketed as having excellent resistance to UV radiation as well as very good light fastness.

Thread producer AMANN’s latest product – called ‘Outdoor-Pro’ – is described by the company as being made from high-strength polyester continuous filament equipped with an environmentally-friendly, PFC-free, water-repellent finish as standard. Outdoor-Pro is marketed as having excellent resistance to UV radiation and very good light fastness. Due to its bonding, the thread is said to be suited for multidirectional stitching and the processing of heavy textile surfaces, including coated varieties.

The technological functionality of the seam is reportedly optimally maintained even under demanding weather conditions such as prolonged exposure to sunlight. AMANN states that the use of special dyes enables excellent resistance to UV radiation, making the brilliant colouring of Outdoor-Pro thread particularly durable.

Outdoor-Pro is said to have been tested in accordance with the DIN EN ISO 12402-7 standard, which includes artificial weathering in line with ISO 4892-1 and ISO 4892-2, as well as cold storage at -30°C. Different weather conditions, such as sunlight, rain and fog, as well as the change of day and night were simulated, and their influence on various technological features as well as light fastness was determined.

Founded in 1854, The AMANN Group employs some 2,500 members of staff around the world, It has production sites in Bangladesh, China, Czech Republic, Germany, Romania, the United Kingdom and Vietnam, and has an additional manufacturing operation planned for India. The company states that continuously improving active energy, waste and environmental management is an essential part of its sustainability strategy. The selection of raw materials and their processing is said to be part of a strategy to reduce AMANN’s impact on the environment and climate.
