Dr Martens trialling resale programme
British footwear producer Dr Martens is partnering with the Depop online pre-owned marketplace and The Boot Repair Company to sell refurbished and repaired products. The ‘ReSouled’ service will allow customers to purchase restored Dr Martens boots at a saving over the price of a new pair.
Currently being trialled in the United Kingdom, the new programme is likely to be expanded further afield if it proves successful. According to Dr Martens’ chief executive Kenny Wilson, it is possible that refurbished or second-hand footwear could comprise 15 per cent of the brand’s sales in a decade’s time.
