Details announced for next UITIC congress
The 21st meeting of the International Union of Shoe Industry Technicians (UITIC) is now scheduled to take place in Italy in September 2023. This event has been organised in partnership with Assomac – the Italian footwear and tanning industry machinery manufacturers’ association – and the Simac Tanning Tech trade show.
The most recent congress took place in 2018 in Oporto, Portugal and the 21st edition was meant to be held in China last year. Due to the pandemic, this was re-scheduled to 2022 but, as COVID-19 issues have continued, UITIC – in agreement with the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) – has taken the decision to once again cancel the congress in China.
“In our discussions with CLIA, we decided that we could not even be certain about being able to hold the congress there in 2023,” said UITIC president, Yves Morin, at the press conference in which details of the event in Italy were outlined. Then, providing a positive view of future events in China, he added: “It is our intention to hold our twenty-second congress in China in 2025 or 2026.”
The UITIC congress is marketed as bringing together industry experts and decision-makers who all play an important role in the worldwide footwear business, such as brand owners, distributors and footwear manufacturers.
