Strength testing of straps and buckles
Considering various methods used to evaluate the fitness for purpose of these vital footwear components.
Straps and buckles feature prominently in many footwear styles. Some will be purely decorative, but most will be functional. The strength of straps, buckles and their attachment are the most important aspects to consider in testing, as any failure of a functional strap or buckle, however small, may result in injury to the wearer. This article identifies fitness for purpose tests carried out by SATRA that may be used to minimise the risk of an item of footwear being involved in such incidents.
