An alternative to human wear trials

Human wear trials can appear more representative of product end use but they are costly, and subjects vary greatly from person-to-person and day-to-day. Testing using scientific equipment often yields more valuable results.

Human wear trials are often slow processes, taking months of valuable development time. In addition, by their very nature, the results can be inconsistent because the external environment and the human physiological condition change from day to day. Gradually, human trials have been replaced by scientific equipment which is more reliable and less time-consuming, while exhibiting greater reproducibility.
