Twenty-one years of specialised sourcing at BFD
Visiting an East Asian company which also has its own footwear manufacturing plant.
BFD Global Corporation was established in the city of Taichung, Taiwan in 2001 as a company specialising in sourcing tactical footwear for defence and law enforcement agencies, as well as the provision of safety boots. In addition to relying on over two decades of experience working with footwear manufacturers in Cambodia, China and Vietnam, the company has its own production operation (trading as BFD Manufacturing), having opened a factory in the Freeport Area of Bataan, Philippines in 2015. BFD markets its production of a variety of footwear styles – from dress Oxfords to jungle boots – as being ‘very versatile’ and has customers located around the world.
The company uses three types of shoe constructions in its production facility. These involve the direct moulding of rubber soles, direct-injected polyurethane/rubber, and the cold-cementing of uniform boots, which are made from various types of leathers.
BFD currently employs 500 members of staff within its plants.
