New SATRA webinars announced

Details have been published about the latest additions to SATRA’s live online presentations on footwear-related topics.

The ongoing programme of webinars presented by SATRA experts on a variety of key topics is proving very popular with members around the world. Hundreds of online attendees have taken advantage of this provision, all of whom have the opportunity to pose questions before the event, during the presentation or afterwards. Answers can then be provided either as a live response at the conclusion of the session (when it is presented live) or as personalised emailed advice, which is a particularly valuable service whenever confidential information about the member’s products needs to be discussed. The following SATRA member-only webinars will be presented at 10:00 GMT and repeated at 16:00 GMT for delegates in North and South America.

Thursday 2nd February 2023 – ‘Colour fastness of materials’. Poor colour fastness of footwear materials can result in both a change in appearance and the material staining other objects, such as furniture and clothing, possibly resulting in costly claims. This webinar will review the various types of colour fastness issues being experienced and consider the different testing techniques available for the screening of materials.

Thursday 23rd March 2023 – ‘Testing for the future – electronics in footwear’. An expert from SATRA’s innovation and development team will discuss the physical testing of electronics in footwear. This event will consider how to check that new designs are suitable and that electronics placed in footwear do not compromise comfort and other desirable footwear properties. It will help to answer such questions as “Is it safe?” “Does it work?” “Does it break?” “Is it comfortable?” and “What happens at the end of its life?”

Thursday 20th April 2023 – ‘Footwear constructions advantages and disadvantages’. There are a number of established methods for making footwear – many of which have been proven over time to meet the expectations of the customer and the demands faced during wear. However, there are often simpler and more cost-effective alternative methods to produce a similar product, the advantages and disadvantages of which will be reviewed in this webinar.

Online library of video presentations

In addition to the regular live events, SATRA has built an online library of recordings of the webinars as well as supplementary video presentations on many key footwear-related issues, access to which is reserved for member companies. This online provision ensures that all members who were unable to watch the live online events can still benefit from the experience of SATRA’s experts and other industry figures by logging onto the dedicated website section at www.satra.com/resources whenever they choose.
