Assessing insocks and footbeds

Considering a number of test methods which are used to assess these important footwear components.

The purpose of the insock may be simply to improve the aesthetics of the inside of the shoe, in which case the key properties will be related to its durability (such as abrasion and colour fastness). However, if the insock is used to enhance comfort or fit, its properties – and how these are tested – will need to be more sophisticated.
