PrimeAsia to expand Vietnamese plant
The project is intended to increase the tannery’s monthly production capacity to eight million square feet of leather.
PrimeAsia Leather has announced plans for an expansion project in Vietnam. Expected to be completed in 2024, the development is intended to increase the tannery’s production capacity to eight million square feet per month. The company will be adding new retanning/colouring capacity, which will be supported by the addition of a third mezzanine with eight new fully-automated production drums. The current sample retanning/colouring area and its team will be relocated to a newly constructed and purpose-built dedicated building.
Several other major equipment upgrades include the addition of a fourth pigment finishing line to support the growing demand for athletic leathers, new advanced drying and conditioning equipment, added equipment in the splitting, shaving and buffing areas, and a further significant expansion and upgrade to the Vietnam facility’s wastewater treatment and associated solid waste handling technologies.
“We are excited about this expansion project and the potential it holds for our company,” stated PrimeAsia chief executive, Jonathan Clark. “PrimeAsia recognises the challenges and geographical risks that are part of today’s global supply chains and we are working to mitigate risk and bring security of supply to all of our customers.”
