LEFASO Laboratory gains SATRA accreditation

Reporting on how this Vietnamese industry body is building on its SATRA membership.

The Vietnam Leather, Footwear and Handbag Association (LEFASO) is a professional organisation representing the leather and footwear industry in Vietnam, currently with almost 2,600 member companies. In 2019, in order to support enterprises in the industry and to promote their export activities, the body invested in building a specialised laboratory that meets national standards in the field of leather and footwear with test equipment manufactured by SATRA.

To ensure the capacity of the international calibration laboratory, LEFASO was successfully accredited by SATRA in March 2023. This certification has demonstrated that the LEFASO laboratory meets stringent technical and organisational standards, it operates efficiently and can provide technically-valuable test and calibration results at both national and international levels. Having achieved this status, the association expects to be able to further support its members from the fields of leather and footwear by means of these testing facilities.

In addition to gaining SATRA laboratory accreditation, LEFASO aims to develop its SATRA membership by continuing to create opportunities to support footwear and leather producers through information and specialised training courses. The association’s intention is to train and build a network of experts and capable technicians for factories in the field of quality standard control of leather and footwear products.
