UITIC announces 2023 congress programme
The 21st International Technical Footwear Congress of the International Union of Shoes Industry Technicians (UITIC) will be held from 19th to 22nd September 2023 in the Italian city of Milan and the nearby town of Vigevano. The event will begin with what is termed an ‘optional day’, while the main congress programme will run from the 20th to 22nd.
On September 19th, delegates will be offered a complementary programme of factory and institutional visits. This has been designed to provide an insight into the world of Italian shoemaking, as well as an understanding of the region’s research and innovation infrastructures.
The following day’s activities will include a guided tour of the SIMAC TANNING TECH trade show, which is acknowledged as a landmark exhibition for the most advanced leather design and manufacturing technologies.
The programme on September 21st will focus on innovation and sustainable development which, as the organisers explain, must now be fully associated to ensure the viability of a company.
The final day of the congress will further develop the topic of sustainability, the integration of which in all its dimensions will be highlighted by the programme as no longer an option for the global footwear industry. The keynote speech presented on this final day will address the sustainability issue from general and specific perspectives, while outlining how sustainability is an opportunity for companies to develop new ways to be both competitive and attractive to consumers.
