Footwear production growth reported in Argentina
The growth in the volume of Argentinian-made footwear and components contrasted well with the country’s general manufacturing statistic.
The manufacture of Argentinian footwear and components grew in volume by 3 per cent during the first seven months of 2023, and an impressive 14.5 per cent in July when compared to the corresponding periods in 2022.
These figures, announced by the nation’s Footwear Industry Chamber (CIC) and included in the latest Manufacturing Industrial Production Index published by the National Institute of Statistics and Census of the Republic of Argentina (Indec) contrast with the country’s general manufacturing statistic, which reportedly grew by only 0.5 per cent year-on-year from January to July, and actually dropped by 3.9 per cent in July when compared to July 2022.
In addition, the Argentine Confederation of Medium-Sized Companies (CAME) stated that retail sales of footwear and leather goods increased slightly by 0.8 per cent in August, and the overall sales figure for 2023 is remaining stable when compared to the same period of last year.
