SATRA holds successful sustainability forum
Reporting on SATRA’s ‘Treading a sustainable pathway’ event, which took place at the prestigious Furniture Makers’ Hall in London on 8th November.
The ‘Treading a sustainable pathway’ event was organised by SATRA to share knowledge and best practice guidance on sustainable issues, thus enabling organisations to tackle some of the key challenges they face in reducing their environmental impacts. Guest speakers joined SATRA experts to discuss topics such as ‘sustainable innovation’, ‘decarbonising the footwear supply chain’, ‘misunderstanding leather’, ‘bio-based materials’, ‘restricted substances’ and ‘end-of-life solutions for footwear’.
This proved to be a very thought-provoking day, with very valuable conversations taking place and a real willingness from attendees to share their own experiences. SATRA has received considerable positive feedback about the event, with delegates commenting how they found the programme to be very interesting and informative.
Our thanks go to Paul Mallory (Coats), Bengt Cousins-Jenvy (xtonnes), Kerry Senior (Leather UK), Sharon Reason (L&E International), Fleur Birtwistle and Gabriel Muller-Ebeid (John Lewis), Karl Flowers (Authenticae Ltd), Gareth Smith (ReNewShoe Ltd) and Mike Kunst (FastFeetGrinded) who, along with SATRA’s Tom Bayes, Lucy Cove, Christine Anscombe and Nicola Pichel-Juan, ensured that the event proved to be a great success.
