Female footballers facing more lower leg injuries

Discussing a number of reasons why lower leg injuries appear to be increasing in women’s football matches.

There has been considerable media attention on anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries in women’s football (‘soccer’). Data suggests that female football players are eight times more likely to injure their ACLs than men, and are 25 per cent less likely to return to playing after recovery.
