SATRA’s programme of regular webinars presented on a variety of key industry topics is proving very popular with members around the world. Hundreds of online attendees have taken advantage of this provision, all of whom have the opportunity to pose questions before the event, during the presentation or afterwards. Answers can then be provided either as a live response at the conclusion of the session (when it is presented live) or as personalised emailed advice, which is a particularly valuable service whenever confidential information about the member’s products needs to be discussed.

The following SATRA webinars, which are reserved only for SATRA members, will be presented at 10:00 GMT and repeated at 16:00 GMT to accommodate delegates who are located in North or South America.

Thursday 18th April 2024 – ‘EU Deforestation Regulation and its implications for the footwear and leather industries. From 30th December 2024, companies placing goods onto the European market will have to comply with the new EUDR Regulation. This covers cattle, cocoa, palm oil, rubber, soya and wood, as well as many derived products including leather, natural rubber products, and pulp and paper. The SATRA team will be joined by Leather UK director Kerry Senior, who will discuss the legislation in more detail, explain what its impact is likely to be, highlight what companies need to do to ensure compliance, and reveal likely future developments.

Thursday 2nd May 2024 – 'Testing supply chain specifications. Regardless of retail selling price, consumers have a right to expect their footwear to meet certain minimum criteria, including safety, durability and performance. This webinar will explain how testing specifications can be used to achieve this.

Thursday 16th May 2024 – ‘3D knitted uppers in sports footwear. Three-dimensional (3D) knitting is now an established technology. However, recent advances in production processes have accelerated the industry supply to make 3D knitting commonplace in the modern footwear market. In this event, we explain the technology behind 3D knitting, why it is being used across many sports, and the associated tests that can be applied to materials formed by this process.

Online library of video presentations

In addition to the regular live events, SATRA has built an online library of recordings of the webinars as well as supplementary video presentations on many key footwear-related issues, access to which is reserved for member companies. This online provision ensures that all members who were unable to watch the live online events can still benefit from the experience of SATRA’s experts and other industry figures by logging onto the dedicated website section at www.satra.com/resources whenever they choose.

SATRA members can also access a comprehensive library of SATRA Bulletin technical articles and other industry-related information at this location.
