Carol and Oona achieve SAFT qualification
Successful students presented with their certifications.
SATRA would like to congratulate Carol Harris – quality assurance and compliance manager of Rock Fall UK – and Oona Sikkilä, technical footwear developer at Sievin Jalkine Oy, who have both recently completed their final SATRA Accredited Footwear Technologist (SAFT) examinations and have received their SAFT awards.
The internationally recognised SAFT qualification covers the key topics of ‘lasts, fitting and comfort’, ‘materials’, ‘testing’, ‘constructions and product design’, ‘risk assessment and quality assurance’, ‘industrial footwear’, ‘production efficiency, costing and specifications’, and ‘laboratory management’. An exciting ninth module focused on ‘sports footwear’ is due to be launched later this year.
This new module will consider trends and innovations in the sports footwear industry, and universal properties and design features of sports footwear. It will include an in-depth consideration of footwear for certain sports, such as running, tennis, football (soccer) and basketball. A number of SAFT modules are being delivered in Vietnam in July, with the full SAFT programme running in the USA from 30th September to 17th October.
