BFA appoints new chief executive
Richard Shetliffe’s career has included positions of leadership at Dr Martens, Havaianas and VF Corporation.
Richard Shetliffe has been selected as the new CEO of the British Footwear Association (BFA). Bringing over three decades of knowledge and experience within the footwear industry to the role, Mr Shetliffe’s career has included positions of leadership at such internationally-recognised brands as Dr Martens, Havaianas and VF Corporation.
While at Havaianas’ parent company Alpargatas, he was the driving force for operations in the UK, and achieved considerable growth through a number of innovative strategies. As BFA chief executive, Mr Shetliffe will be responsible for furthering the Association’s mission of supporting and serving its member companies while advancing the interests of the footwear industry.
Founded in 1898 as the British Footwear Manufacturers’ Federation and re-named in 1996, the British Footwear Association is a not-for-profit organisation which has the objective of helping to support and grow British footwear companies. Members of the BFA team work alongside governments, trade organisations and other related associations and businesses to assist, develop, protect, prepare and promote the body’s members for their long-term commercial future.
