Vietnamese producers meet Italian counterparts
Events were recently held in Ho Chi Minh City to promote trade between Vietnamese and Italian leather and footwear manufacturers. The discussions were organised by the Italian Trade Office in Vietnam, the National Association of Italian Manufacturers of Footwear, Leathergoods and Tanning Technologies of Italy, and the Vietnam Leather, Footwear and Handbag Association. Their particular aim with this strategy is to help with environmental and sustainability development.
A ‘roadmap’ has been agreed with practical activities designed to create favourable conditions to strengthen partnerships between Italian and Vietnamese companies. This includes a Footwear Technology Centre in Binh Duong Province to serve as a facility for technology transfer and human resources training. The centre will assist small- and medium-sized enterprises in the Vietnamese leather and footwear industries to access, research and develop new products.
