SATRA’s programme of regular webinars presented on a variety of key industry topics is proving very popular with members around the world. Hundreds of online attendees have taken advantage of this provision, all of whom have the opportunity to pose questions before the event, during the presentation or afterwards. Answers can then be provided either as a live response at the conclusion of the session (when it is presented live) or as personalised emailed advice, which is a particularly valuable service whenever confidential information about the member’s products needs to be discussed.

The following SATRA webinars will be presented at 10:00 BST and repeated at 16:00 BST to accommodate delegates in North or South America.

Thursday 19th September 2024 – ‘Making shoes with pointed toes’. Reserved for SATRA members, this webinar will consider the special challenges that are faced by manufacturers when they are required to produce footwear with a pointed toe design. Providing adequate room for the toes, which is critical to avoiding long-term serious injury, as well as special consideration for higher heels, is just one aspect of how this fascinating subject differs from the production of more orthodox designs.

Thursday 26th September 2024 – ‘Smart textiles’. Smart technology is an exciting innovation within the textiles industry, allowing the manufacture of materials which can respond and adapt to their environment in a variety of different ways. This has the potential to revolutionise the way that textiles are used in fashion, sportswear, protective clothing and medical devices. This member-only webinar will explore the potential applications of this emerging technology, as well as the regulatory challenges that it may pose.

Thursday 10th October 2024 – ‘Common failures in safety footwear’. In order to effectively and consistently give the necessary level of protection, safety footwear must be carefully designed and manufactured. This event – open to both SATRA members and non-members – will consider how making a thorough consideration during the product’s development stage of both the design and materials to be used can save time and money when it comes to testing and certification.

Online library of video presentations

In addition to the regular live events, SATRA has built an online library of recordings of the webinars as well as supplementary video presentations on many key footwear-related issues, access to which is reserved for member companies. This online provision ensures that all members who were unable to watch the live online events can still benefit from the experience of SATRA’s experts and other industry figures by logging onto the dedicated website section at www.satra.com/resources whenever they choose.

SATRA members can also access a comprehensive library of SATRA Bulletin technical articles and other industry-related information at this location.
