Testing the shear and peel strengths of insole ribs

Before a welt is stitched to the outsole, it is first stitched to a ‘rib’ which has been adhered to the underside of the insole. This article explains what testing can be used to determine the bonding integrity – of both shear strength and peel strength – between the rib and the insole material.
