Next SATRA footwear webinars announced

Registrations are being taken for SATRA’s live online presentations on issues relating to the production of footwear.

SATRA’s programme of regular webinars presented on a variety of key industry topics is proving very popular with members around the world. Hundreds of online attendees have taken advantage of this provision, all of whom have the opportunity to pose questions before the event, during the presentation or afterwards. Answers can then be provided either as a live response at the conclusion of the session (when it is presented live) or as personalised emailed advice, which is a particularly valuable service whenever confidential information about the member’s products needs to be discussed.

The forthcoming programme features the following sessions:

Thursday 14th November 2024 – ‘Demands placed on outdoor footwear’. There are varied requirements for the different types of outdoor footwear on the market and their applications. These can be confusing and, at times, may even appear to conflict. However, they actually work in balance to contribute to the whole system. The key requirements will be reviewed in this event and the preferred testing methods explained. This webinar will be presented at 10:00 GMT and repeated at 16:00 GMT to accommodate delegates who are located in North or South America.

Thursday 21st November 2024 – ‘The adoption of next-gen biomaterials’. Biomaterials are not just the future – they are setting a new standard for sustainable consumer goods today. The footwear industry is pushing the boundaries of product design with plastic-free materials. Earthshot Prize finalist Natural Fiber Welding’s Alan Lugo and Stephen Taylor will join us to share insights from collaborating with a number of trail-blazing brands and the non-traditional tests which are performed to support the adoption of the company’s next-gen biomaterials. This webinar will be presented at 16:00 GMT only.

Thursday 28th November 2024 – ‘Changes in foot dimensions and shape during pregnancy’. Pregnancy has a substantial effect on the body, particularly in terms of the strain and physiological changes affecting a woman’s legs and feet in its later stages. This webinar will consider foot scans of some individuals at several points during pregnancy and investigate the differences that occur in foot shape and dimensions. This webinar will be presented at 10:00 GMT and repeated at 16:00 GMT.

Online library of video presentations

In addition to the regular live events, SATRA has built an online library of recordings of the webinars as well as supplementary video presentations on many key footwear-related issues, access to which is reserved for member companies. This online provision ensures that all members who were unable to watch the live online events can still benefit from the experience of SATRA’s experts and other industry figures by logging onto the dedicated website section at www.satra.com/resources whenever they choose.
