SATRA expert presents SAFT module in China
Reporting on technologist training held with staff members from two footwear producers located in China.
Lee Wilson from SATRA’s footwear team recently delivered a series of training sessions in China for SATRA members. These events consisted of bespoke packages designed to meet the specific needs of the company’s employees, and covered the topic of fitting of footwear based upon the SATRA Accredited Footwear Technologist (SAFT) Module 1 – ‘Lasts, fitting and comfort’. Two training sessions were delivered – to personnel from Petcher Footwear and Walmart, which received independent fit accreditation training for its footwear technical team.
“The benefit of delivering the training to a single member company is that the contents can be tailored to specific needs and focused on the types of products it supplies and any challenges being faced,” Lee commented.
The fitting training has been designed for small groups of students. This is delivered in-person, to allow for the inclusion of physical activities.
Comprehensive training
SAFT is an internationally recognised qualification which gives clear evidence that the recipient has a proven range of footwear knowledge. Students receive comprehensive information in nine key areas of footwear manufacture, with each module led by a SATRA specialist.
On completion of the course, students can take optional written examinations. Passes must be achieved in five modules within three years for a student to receive SAFT accreditation.
