US-based footwear company Skechers has now donated more than USD 12 million to support pets in animal shelters across the USA, Canada, the UK and Japan since the philanthropic scheme’s inception in 2015. This has been achieved through the sales of the company’s ‘BOBS’ products – include a wide range of shoes – and the programme has reportedly given help to over 2.2 million shelter pets.
For every specially marked item purchased, a donation was made to support shelter pets and animal welfare organisations in the United States, Canada and select international regions.
According to Skechers’ president Michael Greenberg, the programme has an impact on the company’s employees, and has inspired such initiatives as adoption drives and the ‘Paws for a Cause Design Scholarship’. This engages students as designers to create animal-themed prints for the BOBS collection that build awareness for shelter pets.
‘BOBS from Skechers’ prints designed by two winning college students will be produced for the 2025 collection. The winners will each receive a USD 10,000 college scholarship from the Skechers Foundation and one-on-one corporate mentorship sessions.
