Clarks celebrates anniversary with film documentary
The film traces the company’s history to its place as an international brand.

The 200th anniversary of the founding of the Clarks footwear company has been marked by the release of a film presentation called From Somerset to the World. This traces the British shoemaker’s history from its beginnings as a small family-run business in 1825 to becoming the international brand it is today.
Narrated by US actor and rapper Yasiin Bey and directed by Set Free Richardson, who has been described as a ‘multidisciplinary creative force’, the documentary explores the legacy of Clark’s cultural impact in Jamaica, Japan and other global markets, in addition to its rise to prominence within the hip-hop music scene.
Featuring personal comments from musicians Liam Gallagher and Raekwon, as well as insights from designer Martine Rose, DJ/presenter Becca Dudley and many other contributors, the documentary investigates Clarks’ footwear designs and its long-lasting influence on the fields of fashion and music across several generations.
