PUMA reaches recycled materials goal

The company is continuing to investigate ways to reduce its environmental footprint.

Sporting products company PUMA reportedly achieved its goal of manufacturing 90 per cent of products from recycled or certified materials during 2024, as well as making progress in the important areas of ‘circularity’, ‘climate’ and ‘human rights’.

Since initially setting this target of 9 out of 10 products in 2021, PUMA has sharply increased its use of such materials, which are said to emit fewer greenhouse gases. Last year, the company was able to incorporate 13 per cent of recycled cotton and about 75 per cent of recycled polyester fabric in its manufactured goods.

“Reaching our goal of 9 out of 10 products one year ahead of schedule is a testament to the great teamwork of everybody involved at PUMA and our manufacturing partners,” said chief product officer Maria Valdes. “We will take this momentum and continue to look for ways to reduce our environmental footprint as part of our Vision 2030 sustainability goals.”
