Honouring a legacy of dedication
Celebrating Vivien Hsieh’s 34 years with SATRA.

This year marks a truly special moment for SATRA Asia, as we bid a fond farewell to our regional business manager Vivien Hsieh, who retires at the end of December after an incredible 34 years of service. Vivien’s career with SATRA is nothing short of inspirational – a story of commitment, pioneering spirit and unwavering professionalism.

After joining SATRA in the early 1990s, Vivien became SATRA’s first colleague in Asia. At that time, SATRA was already very well established and widely recognised worldwide, but had not yet set up a local presence in Asia. Through her determination and vision, Vivien has played a vital role in extending SATRA’s specialist expertise for the footwear industry. This has included testing, CE certification, laboratory accreditation and leather grading, as well as a knowledge of test equipment and production efficiency systems – from the UK to China and across Asia. She helped to lay the foundations for what has now become a strong, trusted and respected network throughout the region.
Helping to build a bridge
Beyond business development, Vivien also built an invaluable bridge between SATRA and the Asian footwear industry – fostering understanding, collaboration and shared progress. In 2005, Vivien helped to establish the SATRA China Advisory Board (CAB) – a platform for SATRA to communicate and gain invaluable advice from veterans in the footwear industry within the Greater China region. This year, we celebrated CAB’s 20th anniversary, which highlights another remarkable achievement by which Vivien has contributed to our organisation. Through her efforts, SATRA and its partners across Asia have continued to grow together, advancing in both technical excellence and mutual trust.
On behalf of SATRA team in Asia, we express our deepest gratitude to Vivien for her decades of dedication and contribution. While we will certainly miss her presence, we also celebrate her remarkable journey and wish her every happiness, good health and fulfilment in her well-deserved retirement.
Thank you, Vivien – your legacy will always be a part of SATRA.
