SATRA announces footwear open day
A footwear open day – the first since the COVID pandemic – will be held at SATRA’s Kettering head office in the UK on 3rd March, with additional events planned for June and November.

Opening the doors of SATRA’s world-renowned testing and research facilities will provide delegates with an exclusive behind-the-scenes opportunity to explore the facilities, technology and expertise that shape global footwear standards.
On Tuesday March 3rd 2026, visitors will explore a number of key themes, including outsole bond strength, slip resistance, whole shoe testing, heel attachment, colour and light fastness, water resistance and the successful attachment of trims and fasteners.
This special event has been designed for personnel at manufacturing and sourcing companies, as well as at retailers of all types of footwear and materials. It is open to SATRA members and non-members.
What to expect
The day is intended to provide delegates with information about the importance of testing footwear, the legislation behind such evaluations, and the key properties that are assessed. A buffet lunch will be included, and delegates will have the opportunity to meet SATRA’s footwear experts and familiarise themselves with our facilities and procedures.
The event will include presentations on a variety of key topics and a tour of our laboratories. SATRA members will be invited to stay for private discussions with one of our experts about specific footwear issues.
As this is the first footwear open day we have held for several years, places are limited. Tickets are available at GBP 20 for SATRA members and GBP 30 for non-members (both rates plus VAT where applicable). Please click here to reserve your place(s).
Additional open days are scheduled for 24th June and 25th November.
