UK-based footwear brand Dr Martens has collaborated with heavy metal band Metallica to release two footwear styles for dedicated fans. The first is a 1460 boot featuring graphics from the 1986 ‘Damage Inc.’ and 1988 ‘Damaged Justice’ world tours. The second style – also 1460 footwear – is supplied in black with an embossed band logo on the ankle and ‘5th Member’ wording on the heel. This is an expression Metallica uses to refer to their fans, considering them an integral part of the band.
Both styles feature the traditional Dr Martens’ yellow stitching along the welt, as well as an AirWair heel loop and a special Metallica eyelet. Additional design elements are said to include an ‘M’ heel stud, special edition dog tags and replacement laces which state the message ‘boredom comes from a boring mind’.
