Hotter Shoes boosts footwear production
Comfort footwear manufacturer and retailer Hotter Shoes has increased production, and believes that the company now produces one in every three pairs of shoes made in the UK. Hotter Shoes makes a range of shoes for men and women that are designed to be stylish while including a range of comfort features.
The company, which was established in 1959, is forecasting that production at its Lancashire factory will have increased to 1.7 million pairs by the end of 2011. Its 2010 total of 1.3 million is said to have made Hotter Shoes the UK’s biggest shoemaker.
The company is reported to be investing £500,000 in its factory to meet increased demand, and is also planning a dynamic retail expansion. Hotter Shoes opened six stores in the south of England during 2010, with nine more having started to trade across the UK this year in such cities as Glasgow, Newcastle, Salisbury, Sheffield and Stratford. It plans to have 25 stores in its portfolio by the end of 2011, and is also shipping direct to the US market, with enquiries from American customers serviced by its Skelmersdale call centre.
