New director at Brown Shoe Company

Brown Shoe hopes to benefit from Dr Gupta’s knowledge of managerial accounting and strategic cost management.

Brown Shoe Company, Inc has announced the election of Dr Mahendra Gupta to its board of directors and his appointment to the audit committee. Dr Gupta has been Dean of Olin Business School at Washington University since July 2005.

“Adding Dean Gupta to our board of directors gives us the benefit of his strong background in managerial accounting and strategic cost management,” said Diane Sullivan, President and Chief Executive of Brown Shoe Company. “In addition, his expertise in information technology, marketing management and strategy will also be of great value.”

Dr Gupta has acted as a consultant to a number of companies and government agencies. He has also served on the board of the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management, and is currently on the boards of Junior Achievement in St Louis and the children’s charity, Variety.
