Growing demand for SATRA services

An increasing number of members are using SATRA’s services.

The submission of samples to SATRA test laboratories rose by 5 per cent during 2011. Footwear testing, chemical analysis and PPE testing have all increased compared to 2010, as has product certification.
Demand from China has been particularly high, with SATRA servicing a 34 per cent increase in work from Chinese members. Work submitted by members in the US and Canada increased by a similar amount.

Overall, chemical testing of products to determine if restricted substances were present increased by 11 per cent, with submissions from China for this service significantly ahead of the previous year.

“As a research and technology organisation, our extensive laboratory facilities underpin much of the consultancy carried out around the globe for our members,” explained Chief Executive Austin Simmons. “I am, therefore, very pleased to see that members have been using our testing expertise more during 2011. In turn, SATRA has invested heavily in new equipment, so that we can continue to provide a comprehensive test service that not only provides accurate and fast ‘pass/fail’ results, but also enable our technologists to provide valuable help in improving members’ products.”
