SATRA SAFT returns to the USA
SATRA’s course leading to the internationally recognised SAFT (SATRA Accredited Footwear Technologist) qualification has been running at the organisation’s UK head office for a number of years. After an eight-year absence, 2011 saw its return to the USA.
The SAFT course is the most comprehensive and up-to-date of its kind, and the information it contains is divided into six key areas of footwear manufacture: lasts and fitting, materials/constructions, laboratory testing procedures, product design/performance/risk assessment, quality assurance/supplier auditing and industrial footwear.
Each module is led by a SATRA specialist and covered in detail over a two-day intensive training period, which includes comprehensive documentation to support the lecture and practical sessions.
Successful modern manufacturing processes rely on accurate practical information and the ability of staff members to understand and apply such information. In a global and competitive marketplace, knowledge and skills are increasingly important, and SATRA has designed this training course for technologists involved in any aspect of footwear production. Once the course is complete, attendees have the opportunity to take optional written examinations to receive SATRA SAFT accreditation.
The SAFT course in the USA was extremely well received by many after such a long absence. Due to its success, it will now be repeated again this year. Held at The Beckman Center in Irvine, California, the dates are set for 15-26 October, running on Monday to Friday of each week. Places are limited to keep groups at an interactive size, so interest should be communicated as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
