BASF receives SATRA laboratory accreditation

The Asia Footwear Technical Centre of BASF Polyurethane China Co Ltd has received laboratory accreditation from SATRA. This certifies that the testing and calibration laboratories in Nansha, China have met the requirements of testing procedures of the SATRA accredited laboratory programme. According to BASF, the organisation is one of the first chemical companies that has passed the stringent tests and audits to obtain this accreditation.

“The accreditation acts as a quality mark on our polyurethane system products, demonstrating our proven range of technical knowledge and capability in the footwear industry,” said Tan Jin, Senior Manager of Polyurethane Systems Asia Pacific.

To achieve this accreditation, the laboratory had to undergo a rigorous auditing process. In addition, a laboratory control manual – containing guidelines on quality policy, staff training, testing methods and equipment maintenance – was developed for the facility in Nansha. Regular SATRA audits will ensure an ongoing commitment to meeting the regulations.

BASF believes that consumers make purchases based on a product’s quality and performance. In line with this, accreditation and certification from a recognised industry body play a vital role in promoting an item’s quality and ultimately raise the value of the brand in the eyes of customers.
