DESMA House Fair attendance beats all records
Over 500 delegates took the opportunity to learn more about DESMA’s equipment and shoemaking processes.
The 2012 DESMA House Fair – the footwear machinery manufacturer’s annual presentation of equipment, held in the German town of Achim – exceeded all expectations, according to a company spokesperson. More than 500 delegates were welcomed to the event from other parts of Germany, in addition to such countries as Australia, Belarus, Croatia, Ethiopia, France, Mexico, Oman, Ukraine and the USA.
Technical highlights on display included processes for standard and specialist applications, such as rubber direct soling with light PU midsole and direct soling with bi-density rubber soles. Demonstrations also highlighted equipment used in the production of moulded part soles with integrated orthopedic gel cushioning and PU boot production (with and without placed rubber soles), as well as technology for upper designs with flowing colours and laser work for logos and inscriptions.
A popular topic of discussion was the new field of in-mould coating (IMC). Björn Dormann, Head of DESMA’s technical department, is enthusiastic about the design possibilities offered by this process. “What is really great is that using a PU coating, applied automatically, we can produce a mono-sole shoe with two colours. This gives totally new possibilities for sports and casual shoes,” he said.
After observing what he calls the DESMA family – staff, customers and partners – in the huge exhibition marquee, company Managing Director, Klaus Freese, said: “That’s what it’s all about. Meeting the challenge – together.”
